Quote of the day

Some of the quotes I have read are profound, life changing and insightful. Some are just funny, silly and just not well thought out. Here is a quote that will linger for years. I invite your responses to this quote of the day-

"There is one law that binds all great religions together. It is, of course, the Golden Rule - the call to love one another, to understand one another, to treat with dignity and respect those with whom we share a brief moment on this Earth." -President Barack Obama

I have a number of thoughts about this statement by our president, but let me invite your comments to begin the discussion. What do you think?

I'm not sure ALL religions have this mantra. Wonder what his "research" is based on?

Religion doesnt even need to be in the equation, this is a statement about the fundamental condition of being human. All humans have an innate sense that this is true. Whether they practice it or not is another question.

I would definately say that not ALL great religions have this 'golden rule'. I think this is an attempt to 'please everyone' and make us feel unified (his motto). I guess this would be similar to saying that people are really innately good.
