Prayer

A friend of mine sent this cute story to me, so I thought I would share it with you as well-

Local Bar Sues Local Church:
In a small Texas town, a new bar/tavern started a building to open up their business. The local Baptist church started a campaign of petitions and prayers to block the bar from opening.
Work progressed, however right up till the week before opening, when a lightning strike hit the bar and it burned to the ground.
The church folks were rather smug in their outlook after that, till the bar owner sued the church on the grounds that the church was ultimately responsible for the demise of his building, either through direct or indirect actions or means. The church vehemently denied all responsibility or any connection to the building's demise in its reply to the court.
As the case made its way into court, the judge looked over the paperwork. At the hearing he commented, 'I don't know how I'm going to decide this, but as it appears from the paperwork, we have a bar owner who believes in the power of prayer, and an entire church congregation that doesn't."

It's funny, but rather sad as well that we don't really "do prayer" well. It seems that our God is either too small for the problems of our life or we don't really believe he will do anything for us, so we don't pray.

We miss so much. The great invitation of scripture is for us to come boldly to the throne of grace to find help in time of need. All through the bible we are invited to ask for God's help.

I could list a hundred scriptures with invitations to prayer, but the point is simple: God invites us to come and talk with him about everything. Don't miss the opportunity to spend time with him and involve him in your life. It will change everything.

Php 4:6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.
Php 4:7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
