There was a political cartoon in DMN this week that showed Michael Phelps on the podium with the gold, a shark with a silver (or bronze - I forget the order) and a dolphin with a bronze. Pretty funny. He is truly amazing, isn't he?? I heard today he eats about 10,000 calories a day to sustain his 5 hour workouts. Wow. It said the average person eating that much a day would gain 4 lbs. a week. Except me - I would gain 8.
Saw cartoons. Also saw reports on the caloric intake. Long Distance Hikers (Appalachain trail, Continential Devide, Pacific Crest...etc) also burn 6000 to 10000 calories a day. Except they can't carry that much with them, while on-trail for up to 5 days between resupply points. Watching a 110 pound lady, eat 4 plates at an allyoucaneat place, and 2 hours later be hungry....and they are STILL losing weight.... Maybe I should try that!!!!

He has been amazing to watch. I'll be glad when the Olympics are over. . . I need some sleep.
