Bob Newhart's counseling technique

I attended a conference today, and the speaker showed this video clip. I'm not sure this is a good counseling technique, but it sure is a great way to deal with problems....I wonder if this would really work?

So I was actually laughing out loud at that! I was laughing so loud that my son came downstairs to see why I was "losing it." (Really I think he was trying to get out of doing homework.)

I love Bob Newhart. I think more people need to heed his advice.

Hmm...makes me wonder if I am not compassionate enough...
