Are we alone?

Stephen Hawking, "Current technology gives us a real chance to answer one of humanity's biggest questions: Are we alone?

Stephen Hawking has launched a new multi-million dollar project to seek out intelligent life in our Universe.  It is one of his passions to discover alien life. It's his hope that this discovery will give meaning to our lives as well. 

It would be a lonely planet if we leave God out of the picture.  

It would be a hopeless place to not really know why we are here. 

It would be rather meaningless if we have no knowledge of origins or the future.  

Without God we seek purpose and meaning in other things....like aliens.

If aliens exist maybe they could tell us why we are here.  If we could find them we might find ourselves. If we can discover other intelligent life we might have answers to our place in the Cosmos. At least that is the hope of those who will not let God into their formula of life.

Are we alone?  No, not at all!  We live in a world rich with life we know nothing about.  We are surrounded by "aliens" and don't even see them.  Let me give you an example,

"When the servant of the man of God got up and went out early the next morning, an army with horses and chariots had surrounded the city. “Oh no, my lord! What shall we do?” the servant asked. “Don’t be afraid,” the prophet answered. “Those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” And Elisha prayed, “Open his eyes, Lord, so that he may see.” Then the Lord opened the servant’s eyes, and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha." 2 Kings 6:15-17. 

We live in a world where our sight is blinded to much that is going on around us.  We live in the very presence of God and don't even see him, hear him or sense his presence.  We live in a world where angels watch us.  And I wonder, how much more is there besides what God has shown us already?  

But the real question for us is not "Are we alone?" but rather, "How should we live out this life as the Universe watches?"

Hebrews 12 gives us a hint of an olympic game with the bleachers full of watchers as we live out our lives.  How amazing is that?  

Are we alone? 

NO!  

So now what?  

How then should we live?
